With 6 million visitors every year, the Vatican Museums can be a little overwhelming. We follow a carefully planned route through the Museums, visiting the most famous rooms such as the Sistine Chapel and the Raphael Rooms, plus a wide variety of galleries full of ancient sculptures, tapestries, medieval maps, paintings and precious relics. As you travel your guide will teach you about not just the pieces you see but the stories behind them and the Vatican itself. You’ll learn about the little details in Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel frescos – such as the painful punishments he painted for his enemies and his own personal message to the Pope. You’ll learn about the characters that walked these corridors before you as artists, Cardinals and Popes and the dramas that unfolded here.
With Skip the Line Access we’ll gain entry directly from the Sistine Chapel to St. Peter’s Basilica too, so we can visit the stunning masterpieces held within. We’ll see Michelangelo’s ‘Pieta’ and the incredible altar. Not to mention the Basilica itself and its impressive dome – the construction of which threatened to rip the church in two.
Travelling in small groups of only 20 people or less and with audio headsets, your tour will be intimate and your guide easy to interact with (but hard to lose).
